Bereaved Family of the Late Obisike

The life of a mother of eight changed forever on the day her husband, Ndubuisi Obisike, was Allegedly Murdered by a team of Police officers on patrol along Igbo-Etche junction in Rivers State.

The widow, Mrs Nkechi Obisike, had to take refuge with her eight children at uncompleted building.

However, she wants to bring those responsible for the senseless murder to justice, and agreed to share her story with Niger Delta Report.

The woman dreams that those officers connected with the senseless murder of her husband would soon be arrested and the police force would compensate her for killing the innocent spouse last year.

Late Ndubuisi Obisike was murdered at Igo-Etche in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State while returning from work.

His wife applied to the IGP with a petition, but the suspected officers were released from detention really quickly, without any explanations by the police.

Mrs Obisike is not satisfied with the situation. She hopes that human right lawyers may help in her struggle.

“Look at me today, I am living in an uncompleted building with my children and somebody is somewhere saying I should forget about the death, I can’t bear it,” she lamented.

The widow further explained how her late husband was murdered. According to an eyewitness, men of the Nigerian Police under the Anti Terrorist Squad confronted her husband in the Igbo Etche/Eleme junction, at about 5am to 6am.

The policemen engaged the victim with argument of obstruction of traffic from where he parked his car. It was through that argument that one of the officers stabbed him on the abdomen.

The policemen left the man alone in a pool of blood and escaped the scene.

But the question that still remains unanswered: who was this ‘mysterious’ police officer that stabbed the deceased and could not be identified by police till date

The Rivers State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Ahmad Mohammad,
said that was the widow’s right to seek justice in the court. However,
he added that had no detailed knowledge on the matter as he took the
post in Rivers long time after the murder.
